On our website, the availability of the vehicles is not shown in real time at the reservation request. After a reservation request, we will contact you to confirm whether there is availability based on the dates and vehicles selected and if there is, we will ask for a deposit amount to proceed with the booking. Once we receive the deposit, the booking will be confirmed and you will be informed via email.
Insurance Policy
Your rental is
protected with our Premium Insurance. In the event of damage or theft to the
car, you are not required to pay any excess as long as the use of the car is
according to terms & conditions. At rental pick-up no credit card deposit
is required and you will not be asked to pay extra for additional insurances.
The renter is insured
for the rental vehicle damaged by accident with no obligation to pay any excess.
The renter is insured
for damages caused to the underside of the vehicle, glass, tires and engine
with no obligation to pay any excess. It may also be referred to as Super
Collision damage waiver (SCDW) or Full collision damage waiver (FCDW) or Wheels
under side and glass insurance (WUG).
The renter is insured
in case the vehicle is stolen, except if theft occurs because of negligence.
Any stolen belongings in the interior of the car (e.g. cameras, travel bags or
cell-phones) are not covered by any insurance.
The renter’s liability
is covered to a maximum of €1.000.000 for death and bodily injuries and
€1.000.000 for material damages. May also be referred to as PLI.
Passengers of the
rental vehicle are insured for death or bodily injuries in case of accident to
a maximum of €1.000.000. Driver is insured to the amount of €15.000.
Some few special
models require deposit. The amount of the deposit varies according to the car
model. When you arrive to pick up your vehicle, we collect the full cost of the
rental and a security deposit. Once you return the vehicle, we will refund your
security deposit in full, unless there are additional unplanned charges – such
as fuel replacement or vehicle damage. The time it takes to receive your refund
is based on the method of payment used to pay for your rental. Please note that
the refund can take up to 14 days, depending on the issuing bank of the credit
card.
In order to
proceed with the reservation a 30% deposit is required via PayPal or via Bank
Transfer, while the rest amount can be paid in cash upon arrival.
Driver must be minimum
23 years old and must have the driving license for at least one year.
The maximum rental age
is 79 years.
Please note that we
do not check the age of the driver when we receive a booking. If you do not
meet the age requirements at the rental counter, you will not be able to pick
up the car and you will be asked to pay for the full amount of the rental fee.
There is not any
young or senior driver fee.
Drivers must have held
a valid license for at least one (1) year.
National Driving
Licenses issued in EU, US, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, Israel, Russia
and Ukraine are accepted.
An International
Driving License is required in all other countries.
Tickets and appended
administrative sanctions resulting from any violation of Greek Traffic laws
during the rental period is solely the renter's responsibility.
If any such administrative
sanction is not disclosed to the company at the end of the rental period
(contract), the violation will be charged to the renter.
Unlimited mileage is
included in our rates.
V.A.T (Value Added
Tax) 24% is included in our rates.
Maximum two (2)
drivers including the main driver are allowed per rental. The cost is 2 EUR/day
for the additional driver.
Roadside Assistance is
free of charge and available 24/7. It is recommended to contact our office
directly in the event of required roadside assistance. During out of office
hours, all direct calls to our office are diverted to our emergency mobile
phone line.
Bookings are subject
to a specific car group, which usually includes several different car models
with similar features. You can ask for a specific model after your booking is
confirmed. We will add your model preference to your booking and we will deliver
the requested model if it is available the day of your arrival. Please note
that you must be prepared to collect any of the advertised vehicles within a
category. In case you have a confirmed reservation for a specific car group and
there is not any available car from this category, we reserve the right to
deliver a vehicle of bigger category with no extra charge.
In case of the
unfortunate event of an accident/breakdown resulting in the immobilization of
the vehicle, your car will be replaced with another one within 24 hours from
the time the accident/breakdown has been reported. Our company has the right to
investigate the causes of the accident/breakdown and deny the replacement of
the car if the use of the car was against terms & conditions.
We offer 3 different
types of child seats (Infant seat, Baby seat, Booster seat). Each child seat
will cost 2 € /day, payable on arrival.
It is the renter’s
responsibility to properly install and fasten a child safety or child booster
seat.
Our employees are
always informed for your arrival time, including last minute flight schedule
changes that may occur. They will wait for your arrival in order to deliver you
the booked vehicle.
We guarantee that you
will be delivered a safe, well maintained and well serviced vehicle
Our well-trained
staff, both engineers and front-desk personnel, will have checked the vehicle
to be delivered in perfect condition.
Upon delivery, you
will receive a recent map of the Crete island free of charge.
Return as Collected.
The renter has to
return the vehicle with the same level of petrol as delivered.
In addition, our
representative will be willing to guide you to the nearest petrol station.
The customer is liable
for all costs to replace keys which have been lost or damaged and the cost of
retrieval of keys which have been locked inside a vehicle.
Non-repairable/burst
tyres are not covered by the insurance. If the tyre is repairable the customer
may repair it and the company is obliged to refund any costs.
If you have already
picked up your vehicle and wish to keep it longer, you must contact our company
and check if the car is available. We have the right to deny the extension of
the rental if the car is already booked. If extension is possible, there is a
Grace Period of one (1) hour (i.e first hour delay in return is not charged)
provided that our company is notified and has given permission. Next 3 hours
are charged at €10 per hour. Over 3 hours’ delay, one-day rate will be charged.
Please note that a customer is not allowed to bring the car later than the
agreed return time without having taken permission (having extended the rental)
from our company since there is not any insurance coverage after the return
time of the car.

- The Condition of the Road: One of the
primary concerns when driving to Balos is the poor condition of the road. The
path leading to the beach is rough and unpaved, making it unsuitable for most
rental cars. Car rental companies in Crete generally do not offer insurance
coverage for off-road driving, including the road to Balos. This means that any
damage caused to the vehicle while attempting to navigate the challenging
terrain would be the sole responsibility of the driver. Choosing the boat
option eliminates this risk entirely, providing peace of mind throughout your
journey.
- Car Rental Limitations: To protect
their vehicles from potential damage, car rental companies in Crete explicitly
prohibit driving to Balos. Even if you were to ignore this restriction, you
would be liable for any harm incurred, including the cost of repairs and
returning the car to the rental station. The expenses associated with off-road
accidents can quickly escalate, leaving you with unexpected financial burdens.
By selecting a boat excursion, you avoid these additional costs and ensure a
stress-free experience.
- Convenience and Accessibility: Apart
from the road challenges, parking near Balos is also a concern. After a long
and bumpy drive, you would still need to park your car and endure a 40-minute
walk downhill to reach the beach. The trek, especially during hot summer days,
can be strenuous and uncomfortable. On the other hand, taking a boat directly
from Kissamos Port allows you to relax and enjoy the stunning coastal views as
you sail towards Balos. You'll be dropped off near the beach, saving you from
the exhausting hike and allowing you to maximize your time exploring the area.
Ferrying the car to
and from any island or mainland is not allowed. All insurances will be voided
and the renter will be responsible for any damage caused if the vehicle is
driven elsewhere than the island of Crete.
In case of an
accident, the renter must contact our company immediately via our 24/7 helpline
in order to receive instructions on how to handle the situation. You are not
allowed to leave the incident place without reporting the accident. If you
cannot contact our company, you should contact the police directly. If the
renter fails to provide the report to our company, then he is obliged to pay
for repairing costs of any damage caused to the rental vehicle. If the driver
or one of the passengers is injured, you should also inform the
police/ambulance. If by any chance the other involved party leaves the accident
place, take a photo or write down the plate number. We will also call our
insurance partner for an accident report. It is prohibited to drive under
alcohol influence and disobey traffic rules.
All insurance
coverings & waivers are valid provided that the renter has complied with
all terms & conditions.
The renter is obliged
to inspect the vehicle and report any damage to our office or police, as soon
as possible without moving the car, in order to provide all information and
photos necessary for the submission of the incident’s full description.
If the renter fails to
report the damage within two (2) hours, then he admits responsibility and is
obliged to compensate the company for repairing costs. No accident/damage
report is accepted on the return of the car without prior notification.
The company is
entitled to claim compensation from the renter up to the repairing cost of the
damage as below: For damages caused when the vehicle is operated on any
unauthorised road, non-asphalt road, dirt road or off-road (e.g. Balos), either
intentionally or unintentionally (rented vehicle ran off the road). For damages
caused when the renter violates traffic rules (e.g. road/STOP signs, speed
limits, road direction, U-turns, illegal overpassing, double line overpassing).
For damages caused when the renter is distracted, misjudges his course and goes
out of the road. For damages caused when the renter violates parking rules. For
damages caused when the vehicle is operated in any race, speed test, rally or
contest or the vehicle is used for the purpose of reward (taxi or courier
service). For damages caused when the vehicle is driven by any person
disqualified from holding or has never held a driver’s license appropriate for
that vehicle or is not a registered driver in the rental agreement. For damages
caused when the driver of the vehicle is under alcohol or drug influence that
affects his ability to drive the vehicle. For damages caused when the vehicle
is willfully or recklessly used by the renter (e.g. damages caused to
doors/body of the car by the wind, damages to clutch/gearbox, damages to the
vehicle interior, damages caused by animals, damages caused by sitting/standing
on the bonnet/boot/roof of the vehicle).
If the requested pick-up area is the airport we will be waiting for you at the arrival exit. If the pick-up area is the port, we will be waiting for you opposite the vessel exit. Please have your mobile phone handy in case we need to contact you. If the pick-up area is your hotel we will be waiting by the reception the requested time.
If you do not cancel
the reservation timely and the rental vehicle is not picked up on the rental
date, the deposit will not be refunded.
If you decide to
return the car earlier than the rental end stated at the rental agreement, we
do not give any refund for unused days.
